Theophilus Presbyter (c. 1070–1125) was the pseudonym of a twelfth-century Benedictine monk and craftsman, author of the oldest surviving treatise on the sacred arts (De Diversis Artibus). The name is back after 900 years, by another craftsman writing down what he is learning while he works.
